I translate military careers into words a hiring manager will actually read

$28/hour , set by Marcus Tillman. Your first session with them is free.

Twenty-two years in the Army, most of it in logistics. I retired out of Fort Hood in 2018 thinking my resume spoke for itself. It did not. Four pages of acronyms, ninety days, zero callbacks.

A buddy's wife worked in HR and read it for me. She crossed out almost everything and asked one question: what did you actually make happen? We rewrote it in plain English. Three interviews in two weeks. I run operations for a distribution company in Dallas now.

The resume isn't the hard part. The hard part is learning that civilians don't know what you did and won't ask, that meetings run different, that 'we should circle back' means no. Nobody tells you that. I will.

Sessions are 45 minutes and you leave with homework. Translate one bullet, contact two people, that kind of thing. I check.

More background

Know cold: resume translation from military to civilian, LinkedIn for people who hate LinkedIn, interview prep, salary negotiation (most vets undersell by 20 to 30 percent, I've watched it happen), the first 90 days in a civilian workplace, when to mention your service and when to leave it alone. Good for: enlisted and NCOs especially, any branch, active duty within a year of separation, or vets a couple years out who are stuck in a job below their ability. Not for: officers chasing executive roles, that's a different game and I'd be guessing. Not for VA claims, benefits paperwork, or anything medical. And I'm not a counselor. If the transition is hitting you harder than a job search should, Vet Centers exist and they're good, use them. Availability: 0530 to 0700 and 1900 to 2100 Central, weekdays. I keep appointments and I expect you to. Between sessions, email me your drafts and I'll mark them up within 48 hours. Come with your homework done or reschedule, no hard feelings either way.
